Friendly Visitors was established in 2013 to offer weekly one- to two-hour visits at no charge to seniors or anyone who is homebound in our service area. At the heart of this service is companionship and time spent together which can vary depending on the client’s interests and mobility. Oftentimes, visits are followed up with phone check-ins.
HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS
- Prospective clients are interviewed
- Prospective volunteer visitors are interviewed, trained and screened via a background check
- The Program Director matches the new client with the most compatible volunteer visitor
Candidates for friendly visits are not limited to those receiving meals by LJMOW.
